History

Hillary Brown, Founder, President

For the last four years Hillary served as Volunteer Coordinator for Outreach Moldova, a non-profit organization dedicated to housing and caring for 350 orphan girls, all with handicaps and special needs.

Hillary worked daily with the girls, providing for their physical and emotional well-being as well as developing English speaking classes. She also worked closely with the incoming volunteers, assuring their acclimation to the orphanage and educating them on the specific needs of the girls.

Beginnings

In 2007, Hillary, along with Daria Gledhill, Randall Brown, Rick Gledhill and Ann Colombero started Helping Orphans Worldwide (HOW), Inc. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of children in need around the world by setting up long-term, self-sustaining programs that will have a dramatic, positive and lasting impact within the communities of these children and their families.

Helping Orphans Worldwide is a non-profit 501c3 charity dedicated to providing basic human rights and social justice denied to children living in the most deprived areas of the world.

Our Vision

We are a charitable organization of experienced volunteers dedicated to providing immediate assistance to defend, protect, and rehabilitate children who are the innocent victims of unspeakable atrocities and complete violation of their basic human rights.

Initial Focus

The initial focus of HOW is to identify various non-profit, charitable organizations around the world that are dedicated to the defense and protection of abused and abandoned children and offer them funding to support the work they are doing. The method of identifying and qualifying worthy organizations is to research their history of success and growth, the percentage of donated monies used as overhead expense, and to work directly with senior officers, staff and the children who benefit from the organizations’ efforts through volunteer and immersion programs where the charity operates.

The purpose of this initial mode of operation is to be able to disperse funds to qualified charitable organizations quickly, without the need to establish independent HOW operations throughout the world. The added benefit of this initial method of doing business is that it allows HOW to fund and participate in multiple projects around the world.
